Do you have a passion for cooking high-quality, nutritious, and fresh meals but don't want to work late evenings? Why not come and join our caring Catering team and bring comfort to those in need?
Whether you are a qualified Cook or just love cooking, at our hospice, you will play a vital role in supporting our catering service, ensuring that our patients, visitors and staff receive exceptional meals in a supportive environment.
Job Details:
Location: St Peter & St James Hospice, BN8 4ED
Salary: £25,600 - £26,100 (Full-time equivalent)
Working Hours: We have part-time and full-time roles available.
Contract Type: Permanent contract

Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation: Cook and prepare fresh, nutritious meals for patients in our in-patient unit, Living Well Centre attendees, visitors and staff. You will also cater for internal events and fundraising functions.

Why This Role is Unique:
Customer-Facing Role: Engage with relatives and service users, making this a multifaceted, customer-facing position. Your ability to offer empathy, listen actively, and be flexible will be crucial in supporting the friends and families of our patients.
Flexible Hours: Enjoy 7-hour shifts during the week and 10-hour shifts on weekends, with kitchen operations running from 8am to 6pm, ensuring a great work/life balance with no late nights or early mornings.
What We’re Looking For:
Relevant Experience: Experience in Healthcare, Nursing, or Hospice/Charity environments is desirable but not necessary. Food hygiene certification is advantageous, but we offer training if needed. We welcome applications from candidates with little or no experience. What matters most is your attitude—if you're a passionate home cook eager to learn, we encourage you to apply! Training and coaching will be provided.
Key Skills: Excellent communication skills, a cheerful disposition, and a willingness to learn and adapt. A proactive mindset and the flexibility to meet patient needs are essential.
